FP 1: Libertà @ Studio II

Nina Mair [it/de], Robert Jahn [de]

Antonio Ciano, the owner of a tobacco shop in Gaeta`s main square, holds a reputation for his unruly attitude. The ex-communist fights for recognition of the cruelties carried out by the Risorgimento regime in southern Italy. On duty of his cause and against the establishment of the RAI and Mediaset information duopoly he founds, together with two friends the pirate TV station TeleMonteOrlando. Four Years down the road Antonio and his comrades have become local heroes in Gaeta, even visits by the postal police have become fewer. Ahead of the parliament elections in spring 2006, the inhabitants of Orlando are torn. Torn in-between the station's hope for legalisation and the certainty that a centre-left coalition will not help the cause of the south.
