Oliver Ressler, born 1970 in Knittelfeld, Austria, studied 1989-1995 at the University for Applied Arts, Vienna. He is an artist who carries out projects on various socio-political themes. Since 1994 he has been concerned with site specific exhibitions, projects in public space and videos about topics like racism, migration, economic globalisation, sustainable development, genetic engineering and forms of resistance. Many of Resslers works are produced as collaborations, e.g. the ongoing project 'Boom!' with the US-artist David Thorne, the films 'Venezuela from Below' and '5 Factories–Worker Control in Venezuela' with the political analyst Dario Azzellini, and numerous of projects on racism and migration with artist Martin Krenn. Oliver Ressler had a residency at Banff-Centre for the Arts, Banff, Canada, and today lives and works in Vienna.
