Jan Verbeek [de]

Jan Verbeek was born 1966 in Bonn, Germany. From 1987 to 1989 he studied Art History, Linguistics and Communication at Bonn University. From 1989 to 1996 he continued his Artstudy at the Düsseldorf Art Academy. His professors were the video artists Nan Hoover and Nam June Paik. In 1993 he attended his master class programme and worked for him as an assistant from 1994 to 1996. In 1996 he studied as a Postgraduate Audio-Visual Art at the Academy of Media Arts, Köln. There he devoted to video and video installation. His work has been exhibited in various museums and galleries, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, Kunsthalle Bonn and ZKM (Centre for Art and Media), Karlsruhe amongst others. He now works as an independent Media Artist lives and works in Cologne, Germany and Tokyo, Japan.
