Born in Athens, Greece, Marina Gioti has studied Chemical Engineering and Environmental Management (MSc) as well as Film, Media and Communication (MA) in Greece and the UK. Since 1999 she lives and works in Athens as a director, assistant director and editor for advertising, film production and multimedia. She has directed a variety of music videos, experimental shorts, corporate videos, educational documentaries and a TV Pilot. Gioti presented her work at festivals, special screenings and galleries in Athens, London, Brighton, New York and Berlin. Her music video for the Greek pop band Raining Pleasure has been awarded the prize for best computer animation at the Animation Block Festival (NYC, Feb. 2005) and nominated for two Greek video music awards. She is also working as a film and video. Currently she is the artistic director of Synch Cinema, an experimental short film festival within the Electronic Music and Digital Arts festival, Synch, Athens.
