Silvia Holzinger is born in Austria, 1966. She studied communication studies and Italian literature and language in Vienna, Berlin and Rome. Her final thesis she worte about the one-man-cinema of Nanni Moretti, director from Rome. Beside working as directing and production assistance, she has worked for film festivals, work exhibitions and the production's manual. In 2001 she successfully graduated from Videolab, Vienna, a school for digital film. The Austrian documentary filmers Ferdinand Stahl, Karin Berger, Käthe Kratz and Ebba Sinzinger have been her mentors. Silvia Holzinger, together with Peter Haas, founded Il Mare Film, a production of artistic autonomous documentaries for digital cinema or TV.
