Born 1965 in Bochum, Thomas Löner studied at the CEM Studio in Arnheim and at the Conservatoire in Dortmund. After working as an editor and sound technician at the Ruhr Sound Studios, he devoted himself to audio and video art. He lives and works in Dortmund.
In his works, he tries to avoid rhythm and melody while concentrating on the tone color. Since 2003, Köner extended his research to motion pictures, producing video installation and movies. His works 'Banlieu du Vide' and 'Suburbs of the Void' have been awarded respectively the Prix Ars Electronica 2004 and the transmediale.05 award.
