Heiko Daxl, born in Oldenburg, lives and works in Berlin and Zagreb. He studied architecture, media science and history of art in Braunschweig, Zürich, Berlin and Osnabrück,  M.A. in communication and aesthetics. Besides the production of film and video, he works on photo and computer graphics, installations and other media projects. Since 1980 he organises media art festivals and works as a curator for film and video art in museums, galleries and Goethe Institutes in America, Asia, Australia and Europe. In 1980 he founded the Media Art Festival, Osnabrück, and worked there until 1992 as curator and organiser. For the edition Infermental 10 he was 1990-1991 editor and curator. 1993-1999 he was artistic director at Media-Scape in Zagreb, Croatia, an organisation for conferences and exhibitions in the field of media art. He cooperated with the studio for electro acoustic music of the AdK Berlin. Since 1993 he teaches at several universities, a.o. at the Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen Potsdam-Babelsberg and the Fachhochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft, Berlin.
