Since 2002, Effekt (consisting of designer Stefan Mylleager and programmer Lasse Nielsen ) have been making graphics and video for live music performances. From the beginning,the key part has always been to make visuals that fit the music in mood and feel. This is acheived by making a direct visual connection between sound and image and creating/customizing a set of visuals individually for each performance.
The working philosophy has laid the basis for the custom made Effekt software, optimised for live performance and modulation using real-time rendering and sound analysis, mixed with video playback.
Through the last four years, Effekt has played with the likes of Pole, Process, Richard Devine, Funkstörung, Diefenbach, DJ Maxxximus C.M and Von Hauswolff, Pellarin and many more. Effekt performed at festivals such as Sonic Light, Dissonanze, Videodance and Roskilde Festival. By constantly updating the visual catalogue and continously working on the software, the visual language has evolved, and cooperation with a number of graphic designers and coders ensures fresh ideas and energy to the project.
Besides playing live there has been serveral side projects, for example winning Warp's Squarepusher animation competition, making music video to Greek electronic act Qebo and Danish Pellarin, and the Tabula project (30 seconds of video in about a week).
