Bärbel Schönafinger grew up in South Tyrol and has been studying theoretical linguistics from 1990 to 1994 in Graz. Following she has been working as an assistant for stage direction and camera. In 1997 Schönafinger moved to Berlin, starting as a sound editor for TV series until 1999 and founded the Inernet station kanalB.org and a set of documentary films of the same title in 2000 together with Volker Moritz. Since then 14 political documentary films were produced that are used by numerous groups and organisations for political education.
