Lydia Schouten was born in 1948 in Leiden, Netherlands. She studied at the Free Academy of Visual Arts in The Hague, Holland and at the sculpture department of the Academy of Visual Arts, Rotterdam, Holland. Since 1975 she exhibited at solo and group exhibitions in galleries and museums on an international level and shows multimedia performances since 1978. As well she works as co-organiser for festivals and as editor, a. o. for the Infermental Edition 5.
