With a background in video, Colombian artist Alejo Duque graduated from the school of fine arts of Medellin in Colombia in 1998. He is currently pursuing a PhD on philosophy of communication at the EGS (European Graduate School); his dissertation topic deals with finding ways for smuggling ideas across different networks, 'trafficking' concepts crossing marginalized communities or individuals. His basic interests spin around so called 'new' technologies and open source software. In Colombia with his colleagues he helped to set up a community wireless network and co-operates in a 'hacklab' (dorkbot-medellin [k.0_lab]) where various disciplines gather. His main interests today orbit around the topics of data representation, streaming media and network collaborations.
