Dmitry Gelfand and Evelina Domnitch together create sensuous immersive environments that draw on physics, chemistry, computer technologies and philosophy to address issues relating to perception and permanence. Their installations investigate the transmutability of natural phenomena that can be rendered visible by technological means. For their probably most renowned project, Camera Lucida which used sonoluminescence to render visible ultrasound suspended within a liquid they received an Honorary Mention from the Prix Ars Electronica jury in November 2007. The DVD since released about that project was produced in collaboration with Richard Chartier, alva noto and Ivan Pavlow, amongst others.
