Koblenz

As a festival for art and digital culture, transmediale presents advanced artistic positions reflecting on the socio-cultural impact of new technologies. It seeks out artistic practices that not only respond to scientific or technical developments, but that try to shape the way in which we think about and experience these technologies. transmediale understands media technologies as cultural techniques which need to be embraced in order to comprehend, critique, and shape our contemporary society.

transmediale is the biggest festival for art and the creative use of digital media in Germany. Once a year, the festival presents new and significant projects of digital culture and offers reflexions on the role of digital technologies in contemporary society.

The transmediale exhibition presents contemporary art using digital and interactive media. Every two years, transmediale includes a large exhibition of new and interactive installations, as well as other media art works.

transmediale_extended is a series of cooperation projects with German and international partner institutions: exhibitions, artist presentations and co-productions of new art works for presentation both in Germany and abroad.
